June 2017 data reflects improving Spanish economy

The median asking price in Spain has now reached €230,000, according to Kyero’s June 2017 data. The rise represents year on year growth of 3.3%. While that rate has slowed since last month, Kyero remains confident in its expectation that prices will continue to grow steadily over the months ahead.

Despite British buyers showing their post-Brexit vote nerves, Spain’s property market outlook remains healthy. Buyers from elsewhere in Europe are picking up the slack from the UK, providing agents with plenty of opportunity to refocus their target markets accordingly. There has been a sharp rise in the number of foreigners buying property in Spain, according to the latest figures from the Spanish Land Registrars’ Association.

The number of residential property sales involving a foreigner buyer inscribed in the Land Register in Q1 was around 14,870, up 15.6% compared with the corresponding period last year, and that was despite a 23.6% year-on-year fall in the volume of Britons buying property in Spain.

Spain is the second-best country for first-time buyers, according to a new report.

UK-based relocation service MoveHub compared 2016 property price data from the Global Property Guide with average salaries according to the Hay’s Group Global Salary Forecast to determine the best countries for first-time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder. Read more »

THE POUND made gains against the euro yesterday, rising to 1.17 after a Bank of England policymaker suggested the UK might need an interest rate hike sooner rather than later.After an initial slump at the beginning of trading on Tuesday 7 February, due to Labour amendments to Article 50 being blocked, the pound strengthened against the euro later in the day.
